Embarking upon the search for the “right college” high school students begin a year of self-discovery, values clarification, and goal setting. Guiding our clients to think carefully about who they are and what they most want from their college experience, the focus becomes less intense about “getting in” and more about learning how to make an important decision, how to evaluate options, and how to manage a long-term, multi-step process. Tim works closely with each student through the college search and applications to find the best match where they will not only be accepted, but where they will thrive.

Students of any age may find themselves facing academic obstacles, emotional distress, and/or diminished confidence, and often make poor decisions that interfere with their ability to meet the demands of their educational, family, or social environments. Tim offers caring support for the family and the child during these difficult times. He locates appropriate residential treatment programs, therapeutic boarding schools, and/or therapeutic wilderness programs as well as other specialized programs that can address the student’s individual social/emotional needs. He works with trusted professionals, including physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists and/or teachers to develop a well thought coherent plan back. These stressors often include learning disabilities, ADHD, executive function issues, oppositional behavior, drug and alcohol use, and mood disorders.
Tim visits and meets with the professionals who run these programs and stay current with the trends and operations of therapeutic schools and programs. He can assist families in this difficult time of crises find the most appropriate placements and will communicate often with the programs, treaters and parents. |
